Dusting off my pencils.

I have been drawing every day since the 6th March 2023, creating over 70 portraits, until we started packing up to move from the Page family home. Preparing this beautiful old villa built in 1906, with around 19 rooms was a big job. This house has been in the family for 80 years. The sale of the house was easy and the best family are now remodelling her into their own home.

Wow, I just realised that I have not drawn more than a quick doodle for 10 weeks! Ahh, how good it felt just to set up my easel and simply hold my pencils in my hands. Doubt flittered through my mind – what if I couldn’t draw any more? How could I start this next drawing for a dear friend in Australia? What if it is not ‘right’. Then I heard my angels whisper, “Just start. Just draw the outline. You have the great masters and everything you need within you.”

I always hear a song in my mind when I am drawing a specific portrait. The song that accompanied this drawing was Come As You Are by Nirvana.
