Why do we housesit?

John and I see housesitting as a wonderful opportunity in so many ways. Every property is different, all of the animals are different, and we love the variety and diversity of these beautiful homes. This gives us a sense of purpose, we provide a service and receive so much satisfaction.

It is a privilege to take care of someone’s home and their beloved furry family. We love and care for it all as it they were our own. Personally, we feel a pull, a calling, or a nudge towards a certain property, or someone will contact us directly, It may be the animals, of the location, usually the animals. There is always a sense of familiarity with each other when we arrive, and we develop a close bond with them. Most of the house-sits we do are for a minimum of 3 weeks and the families are usually travelling overseas.

We are respectful of these homes and privacy of the families, so we only share drawings of our new friends, and subjective photos. I would like to share with you some of our artwork of our current housemates… Lexie, Fergie the kune-kune pig, and Louis.

Fergie is so funny, loves a scratch and a rub and is always pleased to see us, especially with a scrap bucket. Her tongue flops out the side of her mouth and she always manages to sneeze and slime my leg! I feel the pig-love – literally!

Lexie and Louis are such a sweeties with big kind hearts. Both good communicators, they let us know clearly what they want, and have become very dear friends.

We highly recommend the wonderful network provided by http://www.kiwihousesitters.co.nz.
