Time seems to be moving quickly. Already we are in August!
The beginning of a new art journal. These doodles free my mind and help improve the larger drawings I am doing at where ever we are staying.
We have been on the road housesitting for 12 months! Having left Feilding in the Nth Island last August, we drove to Rolleston & Spring Creek in the Sth Island, back to Rangitikei in the North Island, then south again to Templeton near Christchurch, Waikuku, Lincoln, Ashley, Spring Creek and back north to Rangitikei, Marton and on to Feilding. From there, it is the great unknown!
We have done 11 housesits in this time, met amazing people and cared for their beautiful homes and precious animal families. We have crossed the Cook Strait by ferry four times, all in good weather! That in itself is an achievement!
There is such a sense of satisfaction knowing that we help these people go away on holiday and be able to focus on that, whilst we take care of everyone at home. And we have the opportunity to have wonderful pets to draw!
Each town is different, the people are different, but the one thing in common is the friendly, welcoming, hospitality of the people we meet. Everyone has a unique story.
